CAPCo Engineering recently completed a retrofit project for a Burger King restaurant in Decatur, TX. Our team was responsible for providing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design services to update the existing building to meet franchise standards. The area to be designed encompassed approximately 1,400 square feet.
One of the key components of our MEP design was the HVAC system. CAPCo carefully evaluated the existing system and determined that it could be reused with some modifications to the current ductwork. This allowed us to maintain efficiency while still meeting the updated requirements.
In addition to the HVAC system, our team also designed new interior and exterior lighting for the restaurant. This involved selecting appropriate fixtures and creating lighting schedules to ensure proper illumination throughout the space. We also ensured that electrical outlets were strategically placed, including one per booth, at each community table, and adjacent to the settee.
To ensure proper power distribution, CAPCo conducted detailed electrical load calculations. These calculations helped us determine the necessary service sizing and allowed us to design a system that could effectively support the drive-through, exterior signage, and all necessary plugs and switches. We also created panelboard schedules and a riser diagram to provide a clear overview of the electrical system.
Our electrical plans included detailed information on construction methods and specifications. We conducted a preliminary design check set for review and approval, ensuring that our plans adhered to all local codes. We also coordinated our drawings with other trades to ensure a seamless integration of all systems.
Finally, we performed COMCheck calculations to comply with energy codes and ensure energy efficiency in the restaurant.
Overall, CAPCo Engineering successfully provided comprehensive MEP design services for the retrofit of the Burger King restaurant in Decatur, TX.
